When comedy writer, Paul Mayhew-Archer, was told he had
Parkinson’s he refused to take the serious illness too
seriously. Instead, he started doing jokes about it, beginning
with appearances at the Royal Albert Hall and The Comedy
Store. He has since presented his show at dozens of venues
around the country.
“The Incurable Optimist” is an inspiring show about the
therapeutic power of comedy. Paul talks about his career in
comedy and the funny side of Parkinson’s. Paul Mayhew-Archer is a British writer, comedian and producer who has made significant contributions to the world of comedy. He is best known for his work on shows such as "The Vicar of Dibley" and "Mrs Brown's Boys". Mayhew-Archer has won numerous awards for his writing, including two BAFTA awards and a Writers' Guild of Great Britain award. He is also a strong advocate for disability awareness, having been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2011. Despite the challenges he has faced, Mayhew-Archer continues to produce quality work that entertains and inspires audiences around the world.
