As part of our 'Out Instead' project, the team had the pleasure of visiting this popular East Devon venue, in Sidmouth.
For many, this includes exploring their local community and enjoying the attractions that it has to offer.
Home Instead encourage this desire to explore, wholeheartedly. We consider it vital to inform our Care Professionals when we discover a venue that can offer new experiences for both care giver and Client to enjoy together…
If you are looking for a venue that can offer the chance to walk, relax, enjoy something delicious, learn a little and enjoy the company of some wonderful animals, The Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth can offer it all.
Many of our Clients have enjoyed spending time at this local attraction, which offers free admission and parking, an amazing eight miles of countryside walks with views towards the coast, and a very well stocked, spacious, and bright café, ‘The Kitchen’.
Whilst the centre is often a bustling and lively place, there are also opportunities for tranquillity in the Rose, Russell and Chelsea Gardens, for a quiet spot of lunch in the numerous picnic areas and also for education in the Exhibition Zone.
There are also a limited number of wheelchairs and two Motability scooters that are available to pre-book, via The Donkey Sanctuary. These are free to use, although there is a £20 refundable deposit required in order to hire the Motability scooters. The Visitor Team are happy to suggest routes for those wishing to avoid some of the hills that are part of the centre grounds.
You can take a virtual tour around the centre HERE. Further information is available via the Donkey Sanctuary website, or by contacting the Sidmouth sanctuary on 01395 578222.
