Care Professional Catch Up with Aimee

A lady with red hair is drinking a frappe and smiling.

Starting with Home Instead shortly after her 19th birthday, Aimee quickly found her feet in the care sector and has since become a valued member of the team. Although it was her first role in care, she soon discovered a passion for supporting others, building strong relationships with her clients and enjoying the opportunity to hear their stories and make a real difference to their lives.

One of the things Aimee enjoys most about her role is helping people remain independent and continue living in the comfort of their own homes for as long as possible.

Like all care professionals, Aimee experiences both rewarding and challenging days. However, it was her attentiveness during a routine visit that recently made a life-changing difference to one of her clients.

After returning from a short period away, Aimee noticed that a client’s skin appeared unusually yellow while out enjoying a walk in the sunshine. Looking more closely, she also spotted a yellow tinge in the whites of the client’s eyes. Trusting her instincts, Aimee immediately reported her concerns to the office, who then contacted the client’s family and GP.

It was later discovered that the client was experiencing liver failure and needed urgent hospital treatment. Thanks to Aimee’s quick thinking and keen observation, the client received the care they needed and was eventually able to return home with increased support in place.

Aimee’s caring nature and dedication have not gone unnoticed. Home Instead’s “Praiseworthy” programme allows clients and colleagues to recognise team members who have made a positive impact, with messages of appreciation delivered as postcards.

In just 18 months with the company, Aimee has received around 30 Praiseworthy postcards, with clients and colleagues praising her kindness, compassion and willingness to go above and beyond. Her outstanding contribution was recognised in December 2025 when she was named Home Instead’s Care Professional of the Year.

Registered Manager and Training Manager, Talia, said:

“Aimee has done amazingly well this year, trying her hand at something new. She has not shied away from difficult visits and has gone above and beyond to support her clients. This Care Professional is a testament to our industry and should be exceedingly proud of the work she has done. Massive congratulations and well done!”

Home Instead provides care across an 80-mile radius, supporting more than 200 clients throughout the local community. While community care can be demanding, the organisation invests heavily in training and development to ensure its team feels confident and supported.

From sponsoring Level 3, Level 5 and Level 7 qualifications in Adult Health and Social Care to creating opportunities for career progression, Home Instead is committed to helping its employees grow. In fact, two of the company’s Registered Managers began their careers as Care Professionals before progressing into leadership roles.

This dedication to supporting staff has helped Home Instead achieve the prestigious 5-Star Employer Award for the tenth consecutive year, highlighting its reputation as an employer of choice and reflecting the commitment and passion of team members like Aimee.

Congratulations to Aimee on this well-deserved recognition and thank you for the incredible difference you make to the lives of your clients every day.
