Experience the Dementia Bus – Step Into the World of Dementia

What if you could experience, just for a few minutes, what it feels like to live with dementia?

At Home Instead East Herts, we are passionate about helping our community better understand dementia. That’s why we’re bringing the Dementia Bus to South Mill Arts, Bishop’s Stortford, on Monday 24th August 2026.

This unique, immersive experience gives participants a safe insight into the everyday challenges faced by people living with dementia. By using specially designed sensory equipment and realistic scenarios, the Dementia Bus helps people understand how changes to sight, hearing, touch and mobility can affect everyday life.

Why take part?

The Dementia Bus isn’t just about learning facts—it’s about experiencing dementia from another person’s perspective. This powerful experience helps build empathy, compassion and understanding, allowing people to provide better support to those living with the condition.

Research has shown that after taking part:

• 95% of participants changed the way they support people living with dementia.
• 97% said their understanding of dementia improved.
• 100% felt more confident in providing better care.

Each year, more than 200,000 people across the UK take part, including NHS staff, care professionals, businesses, family carers and community groups.
