As we age, we can sometimes feel more vulnerable alone and experience feelings of social isolation, especially after a bereavement, a slight decline in health or mobility has reduced and become limited.

Loneliness can impact health and is known to be associated with depression, appetite and a decline in physical activity. Utilising a companionship care service has many benefits and can help to reduce these feelings quite significantly.

According to AgeUK, over 2 million people in the UK will feel lonely or isolated over the age of 50, even more so since the coronavirus pandemic. Our befriending services help to provide the right support while offering companionship.

We can keep your loved ones company and get them to enjoy a range of activities or get back to doing what they used to enjoy.

Here at Home Instead East Dorset, we believe that age shouldn’t be a barrier to adventure and happiness. Our Care Professionals love to support independent living and encourage a positive social life in the community.

Having a companion and someone to talk to can help improve your quality of life and offer a feeling of self-worth. Our Care Assistants provide a companionship service for older adults to enjoy company, a friendly face and share stories over a cup of tea.

What makes Home Instead East Dorset unique is that we provide companion care visits for a minimum of 1 hour, this allows us to build fantastic relationships with clients and spend quality time without the need to rush.

Keeping the Family Up-to-Date

We use an app to update all information from our home care visits on a daily basis. This includes;

  • How the visit went
  • What your loved one did
  • How they felt
  • What they ate
  • If they drank enough
  • and any other information we feel is important to share.

Family members can log in and instantly see how the visit went using a safe and secure portal that is only visible to the direct family upon request.

Using this portal has been a fantastic way of reassuring family members that their loved one is safe and their health and well-being are monitored and looked after while they remain in their own home.
