The Home Instead Dementia Bus is coming to Dorchester, offering a unique opportunity to gain insight into the challenges faced by individuals living with dementia.
The Dementia Bus is a specially designed mobile training facility that aims to replicate the experiences of individuals living with dementia. During the training, participants are guided through a series of challenges that alter their senses, providing a glimpse into the daily struggles faced by those affected by this condition. By simulating sensory impairments and cognitive difficulties, the Dementia Bus experience helps foster empathy and understanding among participants.
If you’re interested in attending the Dementia Bus Experience, mark your calendar for Wednesday 14th June! You’ll find us on South Street during Market Day, hopefully a convenient location for all attending, in the heart of Dorchester.
Pre-booking is essential and to reserve your place for the Dementia Bus Experience, you can either call 01305 239289 or send an email to [email protected]. A £2.50 fee will be required to reserve your place, guaranteeing that the event can accommodate everyone interested.
The Dementia Bus Experience will be divided into two sessions to accommodate a greater number of participants.
10am to 1pm. We will be taking bookings for up to 16 people to register for the 10-15 minute dementia experience slot between 10am and 12pm.
We will then ask you to attend a face to face debrief between 12pm and 1pm at our Home Instead Dorchester office (31 High West Street, Dorchester DT1 1UP) which lasts for about 1 hour.
1pm – 4.30pm. We will be taking bookings for up to 16 people to register for the 10-15 minute dementia experience slot between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
We will then ask for you to attend a face to face debrief between 3.30pm and 4.30pm at our Home Instead Dorchester office (31 High West Street, Dorchester DT1 1UP) which lasts for about 1 hour
