Home Instead, premium home care provider, celebrates Christmas with dementia cafe Christmas dinner

Christmas celebrations got into full swing today at Home Instead’s dementia cafe Christmas Dinner in Darlington.
The “Memory Lane Activity Cafe” is run in partnership with The Salvation Army on Thompson Street East in Darlington.
About 50 people attended the celebrations including regular attendees living with dementia and their loved ones/carers plus the volunteers from Home Instead and The Salvation Army.
There was a lot of fun had by all and a great atmosphere with a full Christmas Dinner served including all the trimmings, Christmas pudding and mince pies.
Local dementia support group, The Cuckoo Club, organised a raffle for everyone with 6 hampers put together with donations from their members – thank you so much for their generosity and community spirit. Another member of the group, Maureen Kay, was kind enough to bring along cakes for sharing – absolutely delicious!
We even had a special guest appearance from Santa himself aka Jeff from Darlington Borough Council’s Move More project.
The finale was The Salvation Army band playing a repertoire of Christmas carols for everyone to sing along to …….. everyone left with smiles on their faces and in the festive spirit!
Merry Christmas everyone!!
The next Memory Lane Activity Cafe is on Thursday 15th January from 10:30am – 12:30pm – the special activity will be a gentle taster session of Tai Chi – join in if you want or just sit and watch.
