Arcadia - Stokesley Road, Middlesbrough, TS8 0AN

Arcadia is a fantastic garden centre located just north of Middlesbrough. This family-run nursery has been around for over 30 years and features an impressive range of plants, trees, shrubs and other gardening products. The friendly staff are always on hand to offer advice and tips on how to care for your plants, while the café serves up delicious food and drinks. There’s also a gift shop where you can pick up some unique gifts and items.

Arcadia is one of the largest garden centres in the area boasting a huge collection of well-stocked plants, homewares, gifts, clothing, pet supplies and more. Its perfect for all the family with a dinosaur-themed play park with forts and swings for the little ones to enjoy and even a soft play inside, meaning whatever the weather a visit is on the cards. The new expansion of the restaurant has meant Arcadia can now offer Sunday Carvery which is always very popular so get there early.

Arcadia is open seven days a week from 8am – 6pm, so there’s always plenty of time to explore the centre. There’s also free parking and disabled access.

Cherry Hill Garden & Landscape Centre - Stokesley Rd, Middlesbrough TS8 9DY

Cherry Hill Garden Centre is the perfect place to pick up all your gardening supplies. This family-run operation offers a wide range of plants and trees, plus shrubs, compost, garden furniture and other accessories such as fabulous water features.

There’s also a café on site that serves up hot drinks, cakes and light meals or afternoon tea.

If you’re looking for something different to do with your kids then there are also regular events throughout the year including family fun days, arts and crafts activities, face painting and more especially at Christmas when Cherry Hill is renowned for putting on an extra festive extravaganza for all the family. It is recommended to book up early to get tickets for Christmas events.

New at the centre for the little ones or those who are young at heart is a fantastic mini golf course, consisting of 9 themed holes incorporating landmarks around Teesside such as Captain Cook’s Monument, Saltburn pier and the Riverside Stadium as well as silhouettes fashioned by a local steel firm incorporating the infamous Transporter Bridge.

Hire charges include golf clubs and a golf ball for each player along with a score sheet to keep track of your game.

Windlebridge Garden Nursery & Tea Rooms - Middlesbrough Rd, Guisborough TS14 6QS

This family-run business established for over 20 years, Windlebridge specialises in providing plants, trees and other gardening products for home gardens as well as offering landscaping services to businesses. You can pick up everything you need here including fertilisers, compost and accessories like bird feeders. There’s also a lovely tea room which serves up freshly made cakes and light lunches.

Sit and enjoy a wide variety of hot and cold drinks, Fresh home made cakes, vegan cupcakes or something a little more substantial such as a delicious hot homemade pie, whilst savouring the view of the famous Roseberry Topping. The tea rooms are open Monday to Saturday 9:30aqm – 4:30pm with food served till 3:30pm and Sunday 10:30am till 4pm with food served until 3pm.

Being a family ran local business, Windlebridge prides itself of the highest level of customer service and ensure all staff are trained up to give expert knowledge and advice to its customers.

Dobbies Garden Centre – Yarm Rd, Stockton-on-Tees TS18 3SQ

Dobbies Garden Centre has been providing plants and accessories to the local area since 1967. This large garden centre is home to a huge range of plants, trees, shrubs and other gardening products.

There’s also a café which serves up hot drinks, sandwiches and more and what’s even more fantastic for families visiting is the soft play in the conservatory for children to enjoy whilst the grown ups have some quiet time to relax a pot of tea and fruit scone.

If you want something special then check out their events section where they often hold workshops and family fun days with arts and crafts activities, face painting and more.
