Spotting The Signs At Kingshead Medical Practice

SPOTTING THE SIGNS AT KINGSHEAD MEDICAL PRACTICE

Home Instead Chingford recently organized “Spot the Signs” awareness event at Kingshead Medical Practice on the 15th of July 2025.

Spot the Signs is the first of three campaigns we are running this year under the overarching theme of ‘Care Compass.’ Care Compass is about helping Kathy (Kathy is the term used to represent a person looking for care support for a loved one) navigate care and get support for her ageing parents. Spot the Signs is designed to help families identify the early warning signs that an ageing loved one might need additional help. We want to encourage family members to have the ‘Care Conversation’.

Nigel Allen gave everyone a warm welcome and introduced the team – Linda Allen (Registered Manager), Nigel Allen (Managing Director) and Graham Samuel (Community Engagement Officer).

“Our Core mission is to brighten the lives of ageing adults giving them a sense of purpose, wellbeing and worth”, he expressed with conviction

Linda Allen led the talk and mentioned that caring for an ageing loved one can be both deeply fulfilling and incredibly challenging. For many families, the journey is filled with love, but also with uncertainty, especially when it comes to conditions like dementia. At Home Instead Chingford, we understand the emotional weight of these responsibilities, and we’re here to help you navigate them with care, guidance, and unwavering support.

The moving video “Spotting the Signs” resonated deeply with the audience, paving the way for a thoughtful group discussion led by Linda. By asking, ‘What do you fear most about change?’ she encouraged honest and heartfelt reflections from everyone present

After the talk, everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and some delicious homemade cupcakes lovingly prepared by Linda, served in the garden. We also had the opportunity to play a fun and engaging game called The Memory Game, and it was lovely to see everyone participating and connecting.
