Home Instead Chingford at the Older Persons’ Fair: Supporting the Local Community

A Great Day at the Older Persons’ Fair
On 20th March 2026, we were delighted to attend the Older Persons’ Fair held at St Mary’s Catholic School on Station Road, Chingford. The event provided a welcoming and inclusive space for people to come together, learn about available services, and have open conversations about the support available for older people.
Throughout the morning, our team had the pleasure of speaking with many attendees who were keen to find out more about what we do. We were able to share information about our services, answer questions, and offer guidance to those seeking support for themselves or their loved ones. It was particularly rewarding to have meaningful, one-to-one conversations and hear directly about the experiences and needs within the community.
We also provided takeaway bags filled with useful information and resources about our services, which were very well received. There was a great deal of interest in our Nail Care service in particular, with many people keen to learn more about how it can support their health and wellbeing.
To make our stall interactive and engaging, we hosted a memory game which proved to be a real highlight of the day. It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved and enjoying themselves, especially one participant who managed to get every answer correct!
Events like this are incredibly valuable in raising awareness and ensuring that people know where to turn for help. They also give organisations the chance to listen, learn, and better understand how we can continue to improve the support we provide.
In addition to meeting members of the public, we were pleased to connect with a number of key organisations working across the community. It was great to build relationships with partners such as London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police Service, Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society, Citizens Advice and Department for Work and Pensions. Strengthening these connections is essential, as collaboration between organisations helps ensure that individuals receive well-rounded and effective support.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the organisers for hosting such a well-run and enjoyable event. The atmosphere was warm and engaging, and it was clear that a great deal of effort had gone into making the day a success.
Finally, thank you to everyone who took the time to visit our stall, speak with us, and learn more about our work. We truly value these opportunities to connect with the community and look forward to attending similar events in the future.
