Dreading the “Sunday Scaries”? It Might Be Time for a Change

For many people, Sunday evening brings a familiar feeling: the “Sunday Scaries.” That sense of dread as the weekend ends and the thought of returning to work on Monday morning starts to creep in. If you find yourself feeling unmotivated, stressed, or counting down the hours until the weekend starts again, you’re not alone. But it might also be a sign that it’s time to consider a different kind of role, one that feels more meaningful and rewarding.
A different kind of Monday
At Home Instead Charnwood, we speak to many people who are looking for a career change. Often, they’re not just looking for a new job they’re looking for something that feels worthwhile. Working as a Care Professional is very different from a typical office or retail role. Every day brings the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life, whether that’s through companionship, personal care, or simply being a reassuring presence.
Instead of dreading Monday, many of our Care Professionals say they start to look forward to it.
What does a Care Professional do?
Our Care Professionals support older adults to live safely and independently in their own homes. This can include:
- Providing companionship and friendly conversation
- Supporting with personal care and daily routines
- Preparing meals and light household tasks
- Helping clients remain connected to their community
No two days are ever the same, and every visit is focused on the individual’s needs and preferences.
Do I need experience?
No previous care experience is needed. We provide full training and ongoing support to help you feel confident in your role. What matters most is having a kind, patient, and reliable nature, along with a genuine desire to help others.
A role that fits your life
We understand that flexibility is important. That’s why we offer care roles that can fit around your lifestyle, whether you’re looking for part-time hours, a career change, or something more meaningful after working in other industries. We also offer competitive pay of £13–£14 per hour and a supportive team environment where you are truly valued.
From Sunday dread to Monday purpose
If you’re feeling stuck in a routine where every week feels the same, it might be time to explore something different. A career in care isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to build real connections and make a positive impact every day. Instead of dreading Monday, imagine looking forward to it. If that sounds like a change you’re ready for, we’d love to hear from you.
