Homegrown ingredients, many from the family farm, are used in the refined dishes. There’s a seven-course tasting menu featuring delicious bites such as toastie truffled custard Domaine Bruno Sorg, cream of Porthilly oyster horseradish and seaweed, porridge of ancient grains, Cornish cod peanut, crab, grapefruit and Thai spices, roast Gressingham duck, walnut, savoy cabbage and hen of the woods, Beetroot Liquorice, yoghurt and balsamic poached rhubarb coconut and tarragon and to finish the selection of Artisan British cheeses. They also do a lunchtime menu for older people who have smaller appetites.
The Shires restaurant is a wonderful place to visit with your carer on a day out exploring the countryside that surrounds Quorn. Enjoy a sophisticated meal in this AA rosette restaurant. The dining room features Romanesque murals of rural country water scenes with crisp white tablecloths mirroring the luxurious full-length curtains alongside the dramatic windows and a panoramic view of the manicured gardens beyond. You and your carer can indulge in classic British cuisine such as roast butternut squash velouté or goats cheese pasta or seared scallops with a cauliflower puree and bacon. This is a family-owned business run by three brothers: Riccardo, Gianni and Marco. Their father Gino, and mother Janet opened their first restaurant called Mamma Mia’s in Loughborough in 1986. While Italian is still at the heart of this tavern come restaurant, the al a carte menu is bursting with flavours from around the world – from Loch Fyne salmon from Scotland to Umani Broth from the Far East. There are also delicacies such as Pear Tree prawns, pressed pork belly or fillet tar tar with confit egg, truffle and red currants. You and your carer will be spoilt for choice if you decide to visit for dinner.
