At Home Instead Central Hampshire, we are proud to once again support Dementia Action Week, taking place from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd May 2025. As specialists in dementia care, we understand that raising awareness and providing education are essential parts of supporting individuals and families living with dementia in our community.

Dementia Action Week is a national campaign encouraging organisations and individuals to come together to improve understanding and reduce stigma around dementia. This year, we have collaborated with a variety of local partners to deliver a full schedule of events across Winchester aimed at informing, engaging and supporting the public.

Special Guest: Steve Thompson MBE – Friday 23rd May

One of the highlights of this year’s programme is a visit from Steve Thompson MBE, former England rugby international and Rugby World Cup winner. Diagnosed with early-onset dementia, Steve has become a vocal advocate for change and awareness. He will be joining us outside The Guildhall, The Broadway, Winchester on Friday 23rd May, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, to meet the public and raise awareness about dementia.

Virtual Dementia Bus Experience

Alongside Steve’s visit, we are pleased to host the Virtual Dementia Bus, a mobile immersive experience designed to simulate what it may feel like to live with dementia. This experience is open to the public and completely free of charge.

Date: Friday 23rd May 2025
Location: Outside The Guildhall, Winchester
Opening Times: 10:00am – 1:00pm and 1:30pm – 4:30pm

We encourage members of the public, care professionals, students, and carers to attend and take part in this unique opportunity to build empathy and understanding.
