Home Instead Charities awards a £500 grant to Neighbours in Poplar to continue their wonderful community work.
Home Instead Canary Wharf has been partnering with the Alzheimer’s Society and Neighbours in Poplar to deliver vital Singing for the Brain sessions for people living with Alzheimer’s in Tower Hamlets.
Home Instead UK’s charitable arm, Home Instead Charities, has awarded a grant to Tower Hamlets based charity Neighbours in Poplar to help fund community events. Home Instead Charities is a charity that provides crucial funding to local groups focused on supporting older people, helping alleviate feelings of loneliness.
Singing for the Brain sessions bring the community together in a fun and supportive environment, encouraging everyone to sing along to much-loved hits. Led by trained facilitators from the Alzheimer’s Society, the sessions are specifically designed to stimulate brain activity, improve wellbeing, and support memory, word recall, and energy levels.
Home Instead Canary Wharf understands the challenges dementia presents for individuals and their families. That’s why the organisation is proud to work with Neighbours in Poplar and Home Instead Charities to extend their support to more families affected by dementia.
Fahima Khatun, Director at Home Instead Canary Wharf, said: “At Home Instead Canary Wharf, we’re proud to champion community initiatives that make a real difference to people living with dementia. The grant from Home Instead Charities enables Neighbours in Poplar to continue their vital work tackling isolation in Tower Hamlets. Our Singing for the Brain sessions bring people together, where music helps unlock memories for individuals with dementia and their carers, as well as strengthen community bonds.”
