With a range of categories including ‘Training Initiative of the Year’, ‘AI in Learning Initiative of the Year’ and ‘Leader of the Year’, the British Training Awards sets out to discover and celebrate the teams and individuals who are truly passionate about L&D’s role in building a thriving workforce.
This year, over 360 entries were received from organisations across the UK, and so competition to be named a finalist proved to be fierce.
We’re thrilled to be shortlisted in the ‘Onboarding initiative of the year’ category for the way we introduce and train new Care Professionals when they join Home Instead. From updated training modules on the ageing process and person-centred care to updated skills training, the new onboarding process is simpler than ever.
A key initiative in the programme is ‘Betty’s Flat,’ an environment that mimics a client’s home, created in every training room, through the clever introduction of key props. Care Pros are briefed on Betty’s situation, including her early signs of dementia, and tasked with activities that build practical and emotional connection skills.
Sarah Gribbin, Head of Learning and Development said: “Our new onboarding programme is a testament to our commitment to excellence in care. By investing in our Care Pros through innovative and comprehensive training, we have not only improved retention and reduced costs but also enhanced the quality of care provided to our clients. We’re thrilled to be shortlisted in the award.”
We’ll find out if we’ve won at an awards ceremony in Covent Garden, London on the 8th July 2025.
