Here's a little bit about what we got up to in December 2025. A busy and fulfilling month...

Thanks to the generosity of our local community, our incredible Care Professionals and some very special young helpers, we were able to spread joy, connection and kindness throughout Brighton, Hove and Shoreham.
Our Be a Santa campaign was at the heart of our Christmas celebrations. Thanks to the kindness of shoppers at Dobbies Garden Centre and those who dropped off gifts at our Portslade office, over 100 Christmas presents were collected and personally delivered to older adults in Brighton, Hove and Shoreham.
Throughout December, visitors to Dobbies Garden Centre selected additional gifts using suggestions displayed on labels attached to the Home Instead Christmas Tree. These gifts were placed into collection boxes at Dobbies, collected and carefully wrapped by Home Instead volunteers, and delivered to local community groups supporting isolated older adults.
The gifts were shared with older people attending:
In addition, Nourish Catering Events delivered gifts alongside their community Christmas lunches, helping us reach even more people across the area.
Each gift was gratefully received, bringing smiles and festive cheer to those who might otherwise have spent Christmas alone.

Christmas is also a time to celebrate the people who make Home Instead so special. On 4th December, we hosted a festive quiz night for our Care Professionals as a small thank you for the dedication, compassion and hard work they show all year round.
We were also delighted to welcome our clients to a Christmas party on Thursday 11th December. There was plenty of laughter, festive food and the chance to enjoy each other’s company. Many clients attended with their own Care Professionals. These moments of togetherness are so important, particularly during the winter months.

One of the highlights of this year’s festivities was working alongside our local Brownies and Rainbows group. We were thrilled to involve the 1st Shoreham Brownies and 2nd Shoreham Rainbows, who helped wrap our clients’ Christmas gifts and created some truly beautiful handmade cards.
It was a wonderful opportunity to do something special for our clients while building connections across generations. A huge thank you to all of the amazing children who took part. Their enthusiasm made this Christmas extra special.

For many older people, winter can be an isolating time. Shorter days, colder weather, and reduced social contact can have a real impact on wellbeing. At Home Instead, everything we do, from our Christmas campaigns to our everyday care, is focused on helping older adults feel connected, supported, and valued.
Throughout the year, we host Love to Move and Time to Chat exercise and groups in partnership with Cherry and Anna from the British Gymnastics Foundation. These sessions are about so much more than movement; they create opportunities for conversation, connection, and friendship. This year, we were delighted to host a Christmas party for our attendees, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved.
“At Home Instead, we see first-hand how powerful small acts of kindness can be,” said Liz Brackley, Owner of Home Instead Brighton, Hove and Shoreham. “This Christmas wasn’t just about gifts or events, it was about connection. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped us make the season brighter for so many people.”
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Dobbies Garden Centre Brighton, our wonderful volunteers, donors, community partners, and everyone who helped spread festive cheer this Christmas.

While Christmas may be over, our commitment to supporting older adults continues throughout the year. Home Instead Brighton, Hove and Shoreham provides a wide range of personalised services, including:
