NHS Listens to People Living with Dementia

In March this year our CAREGiver Chris and clients Nigel and Barrie (both living with dementia) participated in a panel at Edgware Community Hospital organised by Jennifer Kwakwa, the Dementia Care Champion Programme Lead.  The purpose of the meeting was for our clients to provide guidance to NHS staff on their plans to improve care of individuals living with dementia who are using NHS services.  17 NHS staff members presented their ideas and plans and asked Nigel, Sylvia (Nigel’s wife), Barrie, and Chris to comment on the value of the proposals.

On Thursday May 12th everyone is getting together again to see how the staff has been able to implement their plans.  This should be a very interesting meeting.  What is particularly welcome is taking input at an early stage from people living with dementia about the plans.  Well done all involved!
