The UK’s only National, 24/7 Helpline, supporting lonely and isolated older people.
Operating every day and night of the year, they answer between 260,000 and 280,000 calls annually, from vulnerable older people who wish to talk. They offer a friendly chat, information, signposting and support on a range of issues affecting older people. They are there for people at times when many other other services are closed. Calls can range from people seeking support with very serious issues, such as bereavement, life limiting illness and abuse, through to people who call us simply to chat, as they have no-one else in the world.
The Silver Line charity merged with Age UK in March 2020 in order to to help more of the older people who require The Silver Line’s support – they are now part of the Age UK charity family.
The Silver Line’s ‘Connects’ Service provides information, support and some ‘light-touch’ advocacy to those who might otherwise be unable to access services for reasons of vulnerability, confidence or motivation. Connects are able to ‘go the extra mile’ in ensuring that older people do get access to the support they need.
The Silver Line is always there when older people need them, so please feel free to share the FREE to call number 0800 4 70 80 90 with anyone who might benefit from their support. or find out more here https://www.thesilverline.org.uk/
