Reassuring night time care across Altrincham, Sale and Wythenshawe, supporting families with dementia, hospital discharge and overnight wellbeing.

For many families, nights are the most worrying time. Whether a loved one is recovering from a hospital stay, living with dementia, feeling anxious when the house is quiet, or experiencing changes in their health, the night can feel long and challenging.
At Home Instead, night care offers gentle reassurance, safety, and practical support — helping clients feel settled and giving families the chance to rest.
What Is Night Care?
Night care is flexible support delivered in your home, tailored to your needs. Families can choose between two options:
Waking Nights
Your Care Professional remains awake throughout the night, supporting with:
Sleeping Nights
Your Care Professional sleeps in the home but can be woken up to twice if needed. This is ideal when:
Sleeping nights usually run 10pm–8am, and our team can start earlier if needed — for example, from 9pm.

Through our many years of supporting local families, we’re often asked how night care can fit into a plan of ongoing support. Night care can be offered on a temporary basis, shared with family members, or delivered as part of a longer-term package.
Here are some of the most common reasons families choose night care:
🌙 Dementia: Wandering, Confusion & Disorientation
Nights can be difficult for those living with dementia. Confusion often increases, and wandering or restlessness can become more common. A night-time Care Professional provides calm reassurance and ensures the home stays safe.
🏥 Coming Home From Hospital
The first few nights at home can feel daunting — especially after surgery, illness, or when someone is frail. Night care offers reassurance, mobility support, and reduces the risk of falls or readmission.
💤 Preventing Family Carer Burnout
Family members often try to do the nights themselves. But when those nights become broken, unpredictable, or emotionally heavy, exhaustion quickly follows — especially if they also work or care for children.
A few nights a week of support can lift an enormous burden.
🌼 End of Life (Palliative) Support
A quiet presence through the night ensures comfort, dignity, and peaceful reassurance.
💛 Anxiety, Loneliness or Bereavement
Some clients simply feel safer knowing someone is nearby, especially after a bereavement or during a period of worry or ill health.
🤝 Short-Term or Long-Term Options

We’re incredibly proud of our night team, and two shining stars are Jackie and Mehvish.
Jackie recently completed our Specialist End of Life course, accredited by City & Guilds — giving her additional expertise in supporting clients and families with compassion and calm.
Both bring warmth, patience, and reassurance to every night shift. Their continuity means families get to know them and trust them deeply — something that makes all the difference in the quiet hours.

Night care brings more than just practical help:
Above all, it means no one faces difficult nights alone.

We understand that every situation is different. Whether you need occasional nights, temporary support after illness, or a fully planned package, our team will work with you to design the right plan.
