Home Instead’s 5th Community Calendar: Spreading Joy and Connection

This year’s calendar offers more than just beautiful photos—it’s a year-round guide to local support, activities, and workshops that help families live well.

I'm excited to share something we're doing this holiday season at Home Instead—something I'm really proud of.

I’m excited to share something we’re doing this holiday season at Home Instead—something I’m really proud of. We’ve just released our 5th Community Calendar, and it’s all about bringing a bit of joy to people all year round. We know how much loneliness can affect older adults, and this is our way of giving a little gift that lasts. The calendar has beautiful photos of Altrincham, Sale, and Wythenshawe, and we hope it brings a smile to people’s faces each month.

This year is extra special, as it marks 15 years of Home Instead caring for older adults in our area. The calendar now includes a section on dementia, with helpful contact information that families might find useful.

New Resources in Our 2025 Community Calendar

This year, we’ve added something special to our Community Calendar—a section dedicated to supporting families navigating dementia. We know that noticing changes in a loved one’s memory or behaviour can feel overwhelming, but with the right support, people living with dementia can still lead fulfilling, meaningful lives. To help families on this journey, we’re hosting free one-hour workshops during Dementia Action Week in 2025 (May 19–25). These uplifting sessions, led by our City & Guilds Dementia Trainers, will offer practical tips on recognizing symptoms and supporting those affected. Join us at our Broadheath, Altrincham office at 2pm on May 20th, 21st, or 22nd—coffee, cake, and community included!

The Home Instead team are here to support Altrincham Sale and Wythenshawe live well with Dementia.

Community Calendar highlights 16 local clubs that support living well with dementia.

Our 2025 calendar also includes a snippet from our WOW Guide, highlighting 16 local clubs that support living well with dementia. These groups are specially designed for people living with dementia, helping them feel connected and engaged within the community. The full WOW Guide lists over 250 local activities—from yoga to history groups, luncheon clubs to walking football. There’s truly something for everyone!

The online version of our WOW Guide is up dated regularly, and you can pick up a copy at your local supermarket or pharmacy. Or just call 0161 870 1136 to request one.

You might even see me and our community team out and about soon—I’ll be at local supermarkets, handing out the calendars. We’re also working with groups like Age UK Trafford, Parkinson’s UK, the Alzheimer’s Society, doctors’ surgeries, pharmacies, and The Sale Lions to reach those who may be housebound or in hospital.
