Empowering Wellness: Discovering Support at the Macmillan Wellbeing Centre

Unveil a sanctuary of support at the Macmillan Wellbeing Centre, where warmth and comfort embrace those affected by cancer. Explore therapeutic session.

The Wellbeing Centre a supportive Haven for Cancer Patients in Trafford

The Wellbeing Centre (situated at the entrance to Trafford General Hospital) was designed by Macmillan architects and as soon as you enter the building the high ceilings, underfloor heating and comfortable therapy rooms give you a feeling of being in a warm, light and welcoming environment. Any Trafford resident who is over 18 and affected by cancer can be referred or even refer themselves.

The centre re-opened 18 months ago and Kate and her team of staff, therapists and volunteers have worked hard to provide a wonderful service including the following sessions:

Relaxation, Fatigue management, Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness, Book Club, HOPE course and a weekly Friday Support café. There are two complementary therapy suites providing alternative therapies.

Hazel Dowell, Juliet Young and Margaret Nagal – are volunteers who run the 8-week relaxation sessions on Tuesday mornings. (Attendees are in reclining comfy chairs and benefit from breath work and relaxation techniques).

Any Trafford resident who is over 18 and affected by cancer can be referred or even refer themselves. All the above sessions need to be booked in advance but the Friday café is a drop-in and there are usually people around to ask questions or just have a chat.

MWC offers confidential counselling to adults and carers who are affected by cancer.

Also bereavement counselling for adults who are experiencing difficulties following

a death from any cause.
