Home Instead partners with Dementia UK to appoint sector-first Admiral Nurse

Home Instead appoints an Admiral Nurse
We’re delighted to announce a partnership with Dementia UK, becoming the first home care company in the sector to appoint a strategic-level Admiral Nurse.
Dr Jane Pritchard has been appointed as our dementia specialist nurse. The role will see her enhance our award-winning dementia training for Care Professionals and communities across the country.
With over 20 years’ experience in dementia care, Dr Pritchard is working with Home Instead Hammersmith & Chiswick, caring for some of its dementia clients. Dr Pritchard is using these first-hand insights to build on the dementia care training we currently offer. With strong industry and academic insight, she will further strengthen our support for people living with dementia at home and their families.
Admiral Nurses provide family carers with a range of advice and emotional support following a loved one receiving a dementia diagnosis. They are qualified healthcare professionals who receive continuous training from Dementia UK.
In our partnership with Dementia UK, we will work together to help people with dementia stay safely in their homes for longer.
Dr Jane Pritchard says: “It’s an honour to join a company renowned for delivering exceptional dementia training. Dementia UK strongly believes that people living with the condition should receive care at home whenever possible, so to join forces with Home Instead is a natural fit. We’re all excited about the positive impact we can make together.
“There’s a long way to go when it comes to raising awareness of dementia. Thanks to its nationwide presence, Home Instead has done a fantastic job educating people on the condition, helping them understand how they can help. I look forward to helping them boost this community awareness in my new role.”
Paul Edwards, Chief Nursing Officer at Dementia UK, says: “We’re pleased to announce this new role with Home Instead. Dr Jane Pritchard will bring her expertise as an Admiral Nurse to their work and help offer practical and emotional support to people affected by dementia at any stage of the condition. Dementia specialist Admiral Nurses can help offer advice on creating a safe home environment for someone with dementia and we are looking forward to working with the Home Instead team to support people to live independently with dementia for as long as possible.”
Home Instead UK’s dementia training is City & Guilds assured and has also won a Princess Royal Training Award.
