Dementia Action Week

This month marked Dementia Action Week, an important opportunity to raise awareness, offer support, and encourage conversations around dementia within our local community.
Throughout the week, our team was proud to be out and about meeting local people, sharing information, and helping individuals and families understand where they can turn for guidance and support when living with dementia.
We were delighted to take part in Age UK’s information event at Waterside in Newbury, where we had the chance to speak with members of the community about the challenges dementia can bring, as well as the support services available locally.
We also hosted information stalls at Thatcham Garden Centre alongside Naomi Brown from Age UK and Thatcham Deputy Mayor, Councillor Petra Pemberton, who is a passionate advocate for dementia support for local people. It was fantastic to work together to help raise awareness and ensure more people know they are not alone.
One of the most valuable parts of the week was simply having conversations – listening to people’s experiences, answering questions, and reassuring families that support is available. Dementia can affect every individual differently, and accessing the right help early can make a huge difference to both those living with dementia and their loved ones.
At Home Instead, we remain committed to supporting our community not only during Dementia Action Week, but throughout the entire year. We hope everyone we met during the week now feels more informed, supported, and confident about where to seek advice and help when needed.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to speak with us, and to all the organisations and individuals who continue to champion dementia awareness and support within our community.
