Owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Altrincham and Sale, Alan Savage, has created a What’s on Where (WOW) guide for retired and elderly residents in Trafford and has found that there are a number of fantastic lunch clubs for elderly people to enjoy. Most of them meet once a month, and are a great way for people to get out into their community for a good meal and a good chat.
Shirley Blinston hosts a lunch club every Wednesday at the Altrincham Methodist Church. She says, 'We are always looking for new people to come and dine with us and are made very welcome. And, as everything is done with volunteers, anyone is welcome to join the team.'
Alan Savage also comments. He says: “At Home Instead we understand the importance of social interaction and what better way to socialise than over a nice meal.
“Some clients attend these lunch clubs individually and others choose them as part of their care package. But, whether clients spend quality time with their caregivers at home or go out into the community, socialising provides an outlet to combat isolation and loneliness.”
