Home Instead Senior Care joined Wythenshawe Hospital, for its annual Open Day. With over 50 stalls manned by staff, regional partners and other emergency services. The day provided a chance for the public to learn more about UHSM’s numerous departments such as Audiology, Paediatrics, Cancer Care, HR and many more. Activities include behind-the-scenes tours, the chance to look inside an ambulance and fire engine, and free health advice from Trust experts.

UHSM’s Chairman Felicity Goodey says: “Every year our Open Day proves to be a lot of fun and this year has be no exception. It is a great opportunity for us to show the outstanding work we do here”

Alan Savage, Managing Director of Home Instead (Altrincham & Sale) said

“We have now had a stand at the Open Day for the last 4 years & really enjoy the opportunity to build connections with the hospital staff and the public. We are now gearing up for our 'Be a Santa for a Senior' Christmas appeal where we collect presents for elderly people & where over 40 presents were gratefully received at the hospital last year.  It was great to hear that the hospital are keen to do this again & maybe on a bigger scale.  It is unfortunately the case that many people end up in hospital with few visitors & probably quite concerned about returning home.  This year we will not only be giving patients a present from someone in their community but also providing information of what they can do & what help is available when they come home to their community.”

If you missed it this year be sure to look out for next year's event.  The day provides fun and entertainment for all the family with various dance troupes, choirs and bands from local schools and the community. A face painter and balloon artist provided lots of fun and children received a free ice-cream and enjoy free fairground rides.
