Lambeth Mayor visits Home instead Sunflower Cafe

Today our Homeinstead Sunflower cafe held its first summer party and we were delighted to welcome twenty five over 65’s and their caregivers. Our resident guitar player Nick and Homeinstead owner, Tony provided the afternoons entertainment in the form of a classic mix of Doris Day, Bob Marley and BIll Hailey songs, all of which proved so inspiring that everybody, including the Lambeth Mayor, Ibrahim Dogus, got up for a bop.

A very big thank you to our Sunflower Cafe coordinator, Kemi, who did a fantastic job in pulling everybody together and arranging all the food and drinks. The volunteers at the Sunflower Cafe provide a fun and stimulating environment aimed at overcoming social isolation and loneliness, and helping those people and their families living with mild dementia.

Thank  you to Tom Stannard from Age UK Lambeth, Tracy Wells, Basia and Lucie from the Lambeth and Southwark Alzheimer’s Soc and our Mayor, Ibrahim Dogus for their support in getting the cafe up and running. We meet every Wednesday, 2pm-4pm at Gracefields Health centre, 2-8 Gracefield Gdns, London SW16 2ST, entry is FOC  we have people from all over Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth, and all are welcome,  if you would like to attend please call or email Nicole on 020 8871 0006, Nicole.pointing@homeinstead.co.uk.
