New Memory Cafe In Tamworth Opened by Mayor

Home Instead Senior Care, the home care agency specialising in Dementia care,  are delighted to be working in partnership with Heart of Tamworth and CIC in organising a weekly Memory Café at St Johns church, St John’s Street, Tamworth. Once a week on a Tuesday 10.30 till 12.30pm,  the doors are open to the community for a cuppa and the obligatory piece of cake!

Memory Cafes are a place for people to meet who are living with Dementia. Its an informal gathering of people who would like to interact, share concerns and talk openly to experts within the field of Dementia care and we are delighted that the Memory Café is being supported by the Alzheimers’ society and the NHS dementia service.

Sally Clough Director of Tamworth Home Instead Senior Care was delighted that The Mayor Mr Ken Norchi officially opened the café recently. Sally said “ I am thrilled that we are able to support the community in this way. Tamworth has recently been awarded the status of a Dementia friendly town and The Dementia Action Alliance led by Karen Clancy, pictured above with Lee Bates from CIC, Mayor Ken and Sally Clough, have been instrumental in making Tamworth a community that understands and supports their residents who are living with Dementia”

In her speech at the opening, Sally welcomed the visitors by saying “the social side is probably the most important aspect of the Café. Shared activities can promote a sense of belonging and by remaining involved and active, a person living with Dementia can maintain their skills and independence for longer”
