A match made in Wales

When Sue was matched to Jean it wasn’t long before they realised they had more in common than they thought.  Sue has a cottage in Plas Newydd and Jean has a lot of memories there.

Jean said to sue “she would love to visit there again” after speaking to Cilla Jeans daughter we arranged for Sue to take both Jean and Cilla to Plas Newydd.

Here’s what sue said about their day out.

“We started the day at Plas Newydd Gardens and House as Jean has some connections there, her great grandma and grandad worked on the estate. Jean was thrilled to walk round the house and gardens, Cilla knew so much history about the family and house and the paintings we didn’t need a guide.

Jean was fantastic and considering she can’t walk very long distances she was a trouper, she had purchased a walker a few weeks before with a seat on and it came in very useful to take a rest every now and again. (that was just for me !!)

We then stopped off at my cottage where Jean had a nice long rest and a cup of tea on the decking enjoying the views and the sunshine.  Jean said, “she was so pleased to see my cottage as she can now picture me being here when I tell her I’m going to Anglesey.”

It was time for the next part of the adventure and we visited church Island to see Jeans grandmothers grave and visit the tiny church where its located. Jean and Cilla were so pleased to see this as Cilla had shown the grave to all the family except her mum, I felt honoured that I was there to witness the lovely moment. Cilla and I signed the visitors book on behalf of Jean.

Jean lapped up all the attention loving every moment. We called her the “Queen of Anglesey”.
It was a very long and tiring day, but Jean chatted all the way there and back about how much she had enjoyed the day. We all agreed you don’t make many new memories at 88 or as Jean likes to say “two fat Ladies” but Jean said “she will always remember this day and how thrilled she was to be able to do it.”

We were at home later than we planned as we had a fun filled, action packed day that was so rewarding and truly did not feel like work.
