How to age well

Growing old can bring challenges, both for the person who’s ageing and for their family. It can be frustrating for our loved ones because they can’t do everything they used to and feel like they’re losing their independence. At the same time, it might be worrying for their family as they might not be able to be there whenever their loved ones need them.

Home Instead partners with Parkinson’s UK We are delighted to announce a new partnership with the national charity, Parkinson’s UK. We are also pleased to be able to share our knowledge of the social care and difference home care can make and how people’s homes can provide a safe place for people living with a Parkinson’s diagnosis. What is Parkinson’s? Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world and it is estimated 1 in 37 people alive today will be diagnosed with Parkinson’s in their lifetime. However, there is still no cure, it gets worse over time, and with over 40 symptoms it is incredibly complex and unique to each individual. Around 145,000 people in the UK have Parkinson’s and there’s no cure at the present time. You can find more information on the condition as well as advice and support on the Parkinson’s UK website: Why is this partnership beneficial for those who have Parkinson’s? We want people to be ab

Mental Health During COVID-19 & Our Elderly

This may be friends and family but also local and national organisations. The Samaritans are available 24/7 for free on 116 123 (UK). 2. STAY CONNECTED: Use technology to your advantage. Facetime, Whatsapp or even making a call can make a huge difference. Look at any potential support groups. Phone, landline, mobile, smartphone, computer, internet are potential sources of support an
