Be a Santa to a Senior Success!

Local at home care company, Home Instead Senior Care Norwich, is delighted with the success of their annual Christmas gift giving scheme, having received over 200 kindly donated gifts for the elderly living in Norwich.

QD Anglia Square, hosted a collection point, where people donated gifts for the elderly, including slippers, blankets, chocolate, sweets, puzzle books and toiletries. Many hand knitted blankets were also donated by the Norfolk Knitters and Stitchers.

Once all the gifts were collected, the Home Instead team beautifully wrapped them at Oddfellows Hall, Reepham Road and delivered them to various charities and organisations in the community, including: the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, the Norwich Community Hospital, The Oaks lunch club, Sprowston Day Centre, Marion Day Centre and older people living in the community who wouldn’t otherwise receive a gift this Christmas.

Cathleen Phippen, Trustee of Sprowston Day Centre said: “We are very grateful for the input from Home Instead Senior Care over the years. Receiving the donated Christmas presents makes it a happy time of the year, especially for some members who have no family to receive a present from at Christmas. Without the help of people like Home Instead we would not survive and we are delighted to have their support.”

Commenting on the campaign, Home Instead’s community relations manager, Mark Johnston, said: “This is the 7th year that we have run the ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ campaign. We are always so amazed by the generosity of the local community who donate gifts for our appeal, and I would like to thank everyone who has donated a gift this year, helping older people feel less lonely over the festive season.”

Mark continued, “Home Instead would also like to offer our deepest thanks to all the staff and customers at QD Anglia Square, the Oddfellows Society and Norfolk Knitters and Stitchers, for supporting this really worthwhile cause.”
