A new service specialising in caring for older people in their own homes has opened its doors this week and hopes to create 50 new jobs in the area. Home Instead is based on Bridge Road in Bagshot and will serve clients across Ascot, Camberley, Wokingham and surrounding areas.
For owner Maggie Martin, this exciting new venture is a radical career change from her past career working in IT and an exciting opportunity to help others living in the local community.
Maggie originally heard about Home Instead from her friend Fiona Harrall who owns the St Albans office of the at-home care company. Maggie commented: “I was keen for a career change and when I heard how rewarding Fiona’s experience of opening an office of Home Instead had been, I was excited to find out more.”
Maggie has experienced first-hand the importance of high-quality at home care in her personal life when her father had heart and kidney problems 4 years ago.
“My Dad was discharged from hospital and effectively just sent on his way. My brother and I felt very uncomfortable with the quality of care that was being provided so, although we both lived 200 miles away, we made sure Dad had one of us there every weekend for company and to do the jobs he could no longer manage. Had I known a service like Home Instead existed, it really would have made life so much easier, for my whole family!”
Following her own experience, Maggie is keen to spread the word about Home Instead and make sure that people understand that there are many options out there when it comes to caring for an elderly loved one. “Home Instead is focused on providing the very best service to all of its clients and that is why I am so proud to be opening this office. Now I want to shout about it, so everyone knows that Home Instead is here to help.”
Maggie is looking for like-minded, passionate caregivers to join her team and comments: “We need people who want a rewarding and flexible career delivering care to people in their own homes. We offer full training so experience is not necessary but candidates may have had personal experience such as looking after a loved one which they have enjoyed.”
Home Instead is changing the way care is delivered in the UK. Their service is tailored to the needs of individual clients and ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands. The service is totally flexible to meet client needs and is available from as little as 1 hour to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
