Mark Craig - Owner & Registered Manager
Mark is the joint owner of the Maidstone office of Home Instead Senior Care.
Mark forged a career in retail management, developing a passion for customer service. He took this knowledge and experience to the next level by starting his own businesses in partnership with his brother Andy. Over the last 20 years, the brothers have successfully built two person centred and values driven organisations that support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
"Working with mainly older people for the last 20 years has really made me appreciate their needs and the support they require, unfortunately many of the services offered to older people are not of a high quality and we have come across the attitude of second best is OK a little too often. We chose to challenge this by offering a high quality service that aims to maintain the customer’s quality of life and bolster their independence; these are qualities that are perfectly reflected in the ethos of Home Instead Senior Care".
Mark’s expertise is also in demand within the community and he sits on many committees. He loves to share his vast experience and knowledge. He represents Care Providers at KCC Health and Social Care Guild, he is the Chair of The Mid Kent Registered Mangers Network (Skills for Care) and he also supports KCC Workforce Development Projects. He is also the Treasurer for Maidstone Dementia friendly communities Project.
When not in the office you will find Mark leading a local Scout troop, volunteering to help develop the young people into the leaders of tomorrow. He loves running, a nice pint of real Kentish ale and spending time with his two children.
Emma Chick - Deputy Manager
Having spent ten years working in one of the largest law firms in the South East, Emma took a five year career break from law to raise her daughter. Emma started her career with Home Instead as a part time Care Co-ordinator in 2013. Emma has worked really hard helping Home Instead Maidstone to go from strength to strength.
In January 2016 Emma launched into a brand new role as Head of CAREGiver Experience. This role was varied and challenging and Emma set very high standards in recruiting amazing CAREGivers that are the lifeblood of Home Instead. Emma can still often be found out and about in the community searching for the next superstar to join our team or meeting and supporting our CAREGivers to ensure they are happy and fulfilled.
In September 2018 Emma moved into yet another more challenging role as Home Instead’s Deputy Manager. Emma is responsible for maintaining and developing the quality of our services, looking after our colleagues and ensuring our high standards are always met. This is a new role that is proving very exciting.
When not at work you will regularly find Emma and her daughter out in the fresh air walking their two Chihuahua's, Blossom and Violet. She enjoys watching Motorsports at Brands Hatch, shopping at Bluewater and enjoys a Costa Coffee.....it has to be a vanilla latte!
Stephen Milton - Assistant Care Manager
Stephen joined Home Instead Maidstone at the latter part of 2018. Stephen joined us from St Cuthbert’s Centre in Earls Court, London, where he managed and operated a day project. The main purpose of this was to maintain and improve the physical and mental health of vulnerable people. Stephen managed a team of staff and volunteers. He comes with 20 years’ experience in the care sector.
Stephen is based in the community and is the vital link between the office, our clients, and our CAREGivers.
Stephen’s main responsibility is to ensure our clients are receiving the highest level of care and support that they have come to expect from Home Instead. He works closely with our excellent team of CAREGivers supporting them in their day to day activities.
Stephen is involved with the clients from initial consultation, from the very first phone call to Home Instead, meeting with the client and their family and preparing their care plan. From this point Stephen manages the day to day care and support of the client.
When not in the office you will find Stephen singing and acting and spending time with his chocolate Labrador, Amy. He also loves to visit his homeland Aberdare in South Wales.
Janina French - Trainer
Janina joined Home Instead in March 2017 as a CAREGiver her talents were quickly spotted and she was promoted to our Trainer in May 2018.
Janina is an ENB qualified Teacher and assessor in clinical practice and an EX-Registered General Nurse.
Janina’s responsibilities include CAREGiver Orientation; assisting our CAREGivers to complete the CARE Certificate, arranging for CAREGivers to participate in NCFE courses with our external training provider IPS International, Dementia training, SCAM training and working closely with our CAREGivers on their continued professional development (CPD).
Back in Janina’s nurse training days she spent 6 months under the direction of the legendary Professor Winston.
Janina is also an artist specialising in miniatures and has exhibited with RMS at the Mall Gallery in London, she is Kent’s only certified Zentangle teacher.
Sue Bowden - Care Co-ordinator
Sue joined Home Instead in September 2018. Sue’s previously held the position of Account Manager with a well-known hair care brand. This had Sue travelling up and down the country heading up training, creating business plans, and working heavily in merchandising the brand. This also flew Sue out to Las Vegas! In more recent years Sue has been involved in running the family business – this has proved to be a huge success for Home Instead as we have all of Sue’s scheduling expertise at our finger tips!
Sue has turned the care operations around at Home Instead Maidstone is responsible for the co-ordination of care operations from scheduling, liaising with CAREGivers and clients.
Sue lives with her lovely family, her three grown up children and her chocolate Labrador, Pepsi.
Sue loves a bit of shopping, eating out, and an exotic holiday!
