Community Involvement

It's important to stay sociable as we age to avoid the serious impact of loneliness. Stay connected and have fun by joining a social group!

What's on where? - Lewes District

Our local communities offer a range of stimulating activities for older adults to enjoy, but it can be difficult to find the details all in one place. This inspired Home Instead to create a guide to ‘What’s on Where’ (WOW) – this Community Services & Wellbeing Guide.

We are also very conscious of our social responsibility. We work to help combat loneliness and social isolation, alongside other challenges that older people, their families, and carers face.

A diagnosis of dementia is life changing for all those affected, but we know it is possible to live well with the condition. Taking part in activities and being part of the local community can make a difference and we want to play our part in helping those affected to feel valued, engaged and supported.

So download our ‘What’s on Where’ guide by filling out the form to your right and find out what’s going on locally in Lewes District.

What's on Where? - Uckfield

Elderly people can enjoy a wide range of stimulating activities offered by Uckfield communities, but it can be difficult to locate all the information in one location. This gave Home Instead the idea to develop the Community Services & Wellbeing Guide, or “What’s on Where” (WOW).

Download our “What’s on Where” booklet and fill out the form on the right to find out what’s happening in Uckfield, and the surrounding areas.

Home Instead Charities Companionship Cafe in Lewes

With sponsorship from Home Instead Charities, Home Instead Lewes District and Uckfield are delighted to launch a new Companionship Café in Lewes at the Dorset Pub on Malling Street, every Wednesday 10am – 12pm.

Using funds provided by The Access Foundation, Home Instead Charities has been able to purchase devices such as laptops and iPads for older people to use at our companionship cafes so they can learn simple digital skills and become more tech savvy. With funding and equipment, we will be able to provide the community with a safe space for learning and socialising.

The Home Instead Charities Cafe in Lewes is supported by friendly volunteers from Home Instead Lewes District and Uckfield. Please get in touch if you would like to book a space at our upcoming Companionship Café!

Dementia Information Evening in Lewes

Home Instead Lewes District & Uckfield regularly hold Dementia Information Evenings to provide a safe space for families whose loved ones have been living with memory loss or who have recently been diagnosed with dementia.

Join Home Instead for an informal evening of information sharing, over a glass of wine or coffee, to help you understand a little more about dementia and helping your loved one to live well.

We had a wonderful evening in July 2023 and local MP Maria Caulfield came along to launch our first ever Dementia Information Evening. Guest speakers Lauren Puttock-Brown from Mayo-Wynne Baxter solicitors and Paula Ryan from Westerham Financial Services were also there to share their own useful knowledge and guidance.

Our most recent event in May 2024, as part of Dementia Action Week, was another success and we had a full house!

Please get in touch to find out about any upcoming dates by calling us on 01273 437040 or email [email protected].
