Local home care company Home Instead Senior Care in Telford & Wrekin and its army of dedicated Caregivers are busy delivering mince pies and cards to each of their elderly clients in the run up to Christmas this year.  As an at-home care provider for older people in the area, Jenny Sokoloff decided to set out and spread a little festive cheer and get Christmas of to a great start.

Jenny explains: “We decided to take a little piece of Christmas to our clients and we selected some special mince pies made locally by Newport Cake Maker, Dianne at theCake Academy. She makes all the ingredients including the pastry and mincemeat (which has a touch of brandy), the pies were decorated with a Christmas motif and sprinkled with edible glitter – everyone thought they were seriously yummy.

She continues: We provide care for older people every day, but not all older people will be so lucky this year and with the weather turning for the worse I am keen to get people to look our for their elderly neighbours who may be alone at this time of year. Where ever possible please give them a helping hand, or just make them a visit perhaps with a mince pie and a cup of tea, just a chat can be important in making others feel cared for at Christmas which can be a lonely time for many people.

Home Instead Senior Care provides care services for older people which help them to continue living in their own homes. Services ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
