Falls Awareness Event

Organisations based in Barnet, Home Instead Senior Care, Age UK and Friend in Need, are holding their third Falls Awareness Event on 27th September, at the Friend in Need Community Centre East Barnet. Dale Bevington of Home Instead, would like to invite older people from the local community to attend the event, which will offer crucial information about how to avoid falls at home.

The event will begin at 10.30am with a variety of guest speakers covering areas such as diet, exercise, bone health, telecare, and keeping your house warm. Those attending will be able to visit a range of stalls, with information from organisations across the borough such as, ‘Age UK’ and the ‘ Finchley Memorial Hospital Falls Clinic’. In addition, there will also be Tai Chi, Traditional Indian Dance, Gentle Exercise and Zumba demonstrations, given by local dance and exercise groups. Lunch will be served.  This is a free event.

Dale commented: “Not only can older people and their families gain important information from this event about falls awareness, they can also engage in fun activities, which help to promote a healthy lifestyle. It is important to take part in these kinds of activities as not only are they fun and social things to do, but they can also ensure that older people stay supple and agile in later life.”
