About Care in Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate

A locally based team who, between them, have over 50 years’ experience in the care of older people, acquired in March 2009 the Broadstairs Home Instead office.

Kevan Barr and Linda Johnson (Kevan’s fiancée) have a strong track record in the care business having worked together at two well-known residential care homes owned by Kevan, Copperfield House in Broadstairs, and Redcot Lodge in Cliftonville, which were owned up until 2003.

Since that time, Kevan and Linda have been involved in various business ventures, as well as enjoying voluntary work through the Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Broadstairs.

Julie Parr joined in December 2009, having previously been the qualified Care Manager of a number of local care providers and having 16 years experience in her field.

The three were eager to work together and keen to capitalise on their skills and knowledge of the care sector. Commenting on their decision to open a Home Instead Senior Care office, Kevan said: “Having researched business opportunities in the care sector, Home Instead really stood out for us, as their business ethos allows for the building of strong relationships between carer and client plus the delivery of a high quality service. They specialise in companionship and the same dignity in care we espoused at our care homes. Copperfield House was the only Classic Home in the Thanet area, and was identified for its 'exceptional standards of care' and recognised for its ‘high care standards, offering excellent social opportunities to enhance its residents' well being and quality of life’ ”.

In Novemeber 2009 we achieved the coveted 2-star accolade from our Care Quality Commission assessment, which is the highest rating that newly-registered care services can achieve at their first inspection. At a recent visit Stephen Ladyman MP said ‘The CQC plays a vital role in maintaining standards in the country’s social care services. ‘Their report demonstrates that Home Instead is fully committed to supporting people who want to remain independent and in their own homes. They are enriching people’s lives and I really do commend them,’ he added.

The Broadstairs Home Instead Senior Care Office is part of a global network of more than 900 locally owned and operated offices.
