30 Days of Getting Up and Getting Dressed

Care Professional Andrea and Mrs Seals celebrate the small wins!

At Home Instead Broadstairs, Ramsgate & Margate, we believe that every achievement deserves to be celebrated.

While some milestones may seem small to others, they can represent significant progress, restored confidence, and a greater sense of independence of the ageing adults we support. It’s often these everyday victories that have the biggest impact on someone’s wellbeing, and they remind us why person-centred care is so important.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Recently, one of our Clients, Mrs Ann Seals, reached a remarkable personal milestone with the support and encouragement of her Care Professional, Andrea.

For 30 consecutive days, Mrs Seals successfully got up, dressed and ready to start her day. While this may sound like a simple routine, maintaining motivation and consistency can be challenging for many senior adults, particularly when health concerns, reduced confidence, or changes in circumstances affect their daily lives.

Reaching this milestone was about much more than getting ready every morning. It represented determination, resilience and a growing confidence in her ability to embrace each day.

Power of encouragement

At the heart of this achievement was the relationship built between Ann and Andrea.

Through regular support, gentle encouragement, and understanding what mattered most to Ann, Andrea helped her stay focused on her goal. Small words of motivation and celebrating daily successes along the way made a meaningful difference.

This is a wonderful example of how quality care extends beyond practical assistance. Having someone there to support, encourage and believe in you can have a lasting impact on both physical and emotional wellbeing.

Celebrating Success Together

A milestone like this deserved recognition.

To celebrate her achievement, Andrea treated Mrs Seals to her favourite chocolate eclair, a well-earned reward that brought a smile to her face. Of course, Andrea made sure Ann’s health remained a priority, helping her enjoy the occasion while making sure those sugar levels stayed on track.

Despite it being a small gesture, it was one filled with lots of meaning. Celebrating achievements no matter how big or small, helps to reinforce confidence and reminds older adults of just how much they are capable of achieving.

Care Is More About Than Just Tasks

Stories like this highlight that home care is about so much more than helping with everyday tasks and completing a check list with every personal care or companionship care visit, it’s about empowering people to live independently, supporting them to achieve their personal goals, and creating moments of joy along the way.

Every client we support has their own aspirations, challenges and achievements, and we are privileged to be part of those journeys.
