Weybridge resident and Home Instead Windsor, Runnymede and West Spelthorne owner, Anitra Camargo has been awarded gold in the ‘Community Champion’ category at the National Business Women’s Awards 2023. The award recognises Anitra’s tireless hard work strengthening the community post-pandemic, reconnecting the community and collaborating with local organisations.

Running the CQC Outstanding rated home care company, Home Instead Windsor, Runnymede & West Spelthorne, for 12 years, Anitra has not only consistently delivered high-quality care but also fostered community relationships. Lockdown put events on hold, and when restrictions were removed, Anitra was determined to restore the community’s vibrancy.

The judges were particularly impressed by Anitra’s proactive approach, facilitating a remarkable 1354 events, including 260 which were for Home Instead clients and family members, enabling locals to reconnect after prolonged periods of separation. The events ranged from a Charity Dog Walk and Coronation Tea Dance to Wellness Walks, Community Picnics, and scam awareness talks. Leveraging the company’s expertise, resources, and community partnerships, Anitra ensured that older individuals remained connected and engaged.

Anitra comments: “As someone with personal experiences of care, having seen a family member receive the support she needed, I understand how important it is to know that your loved one is in safe hands. Not only that, I understand the significance of community events and the role it plays in keep older people socially stimulated and connected.

“It is an honour to be recognised as a Community Champion in the National Business Women’s Awards, winning alongside other successful powerhouse females! I’m keen to continue strengthening the community and making the area a more supportive place for everyone, particularly older people.”
