Afternoon tea at Grappenhall Library

Grappenhall Library hosted their second afternoon tea session for people living with dementia and their carers on Wednesday 8th
May.

We were delighted that one of our clients was able to attend the tea, with a CAREGiver who regularly supports her. Our client was one of six people together with their carers who attended. They were treated to delicious cakes made by one of the library volunteers and this sparked off some very lively conversation. There then followed poetry readings by another of the volunteers. This activity was very much enjoyed as most of the poems chosen were familiar favourites from schooldays; everyone recalled them and in some cases were able to recite them by heart.

The library volunteers asked for any suggestions for entertainment at future events and we will certainly be encouraging more of our clients who live in the local area to take this wonderful opportunity up.

The next session is planned for Wednesday 19th June at 3 pm and it will then be each 3rd Wednesday of the month going forward.
