Knocked for 6 by donation for the Memory Café

On Saturday 9th September Sally Clough Director of Home Instead Senior Care went to Tamworth Cricket and Hockey Club to meet the organisers of their fund raising event they had the previous week.

The Cricket and Hockey Club had a hugely successful day raising money for local community groups including a very well patronaged cake stall.

Sally met Diane Lever who presented a cheque worth £1150. Sally said “ I was absolutely thrilled to receive such a generous donation and meet people who are as passionate about supporting people living with Dementia as we are at Home Instead.  The Memory Café has been up and running since May 2017 and there is an enormous need to provide a safe environment for people living with Dementia who can get involved with activities, conversation and social stimulation”

Diane said that she had recommended that they raise money for the Memory Café following a visit she made to it some weeks previously. She said “ Home Instead are doing a great job providing this opportunity for the people of Tamworth, the atmosphere at the Memory Café is superb. We hope that this donation from the clubs efforts will enable more people to use the service and provide the Café with more stimulating activities throughout the year.”

The memory Cafe is a free 2 hour session every week 10.30am till 12.30pm at St Johns Church Orchard Street, Tamworth.
