The skills and compassion of local CAREGiver Caroline Howard, have recently been recognised by her colleagues, who nominated her for the national Home Instead Senior Care ‘CAREGiver of the Year’ award, for which she is now one of just 12 finalists across 150 offices with over 7000 staff!

Caroline, 49 from Poynton, has worked for Home Instead for 2 years and has beencommitted to providing support to the highest level. Caroline has a flexible approach to care and is unafraid to try new things, she recently found a yoga group for a client, which she attended with them, even though she had never tried it before.

Caroline is constantly working on her own personal development and relishes the opportunity to partake in training which will enhance the care she provides to her clients. She has excellent communication skills and has the natural ability to make clients feel at ease and as such has built wonderful relationships with them.

For the family of one of Caroline’s clients, she was a massive support. The family, who lived in various parts of the world, were unable to be with their family member when she became ill but Caroline ensured that she provided them with regular updates on her condition, as well as offering emotional support. The family were so proud that their aunt had been looked after by Caroline and were delighted that she was with her when she passed away.

Care is in Caroline’s DNA and aside from caring for her clients, she also supports her mother who was paralysed after a car accident 27 years ago and was looking after her son Ben (18), who has downs syndrome, autism, epilepsy and heart disease, up until 2 years ago.

Owner of Home Instead, David Moore said, “Caroline often jokes about her life situations in that ‘There's never a dull moment!’, this was said after she took in her mother and father-in- law after they had been exiled from Australia! No matter what circumstances Caroline is faced with she always has a smile on her face and never falters in providing her clients with an excellent standard of care. We are all delighted and proud that Caroline has reached the regional finals of these prestigious awards.”
