Joan enjoying a cup of tea with Danielle
Every cuppa did make a difference, as parishioners from St. James’s Church in Gatley, staff from Home Instead Senior Care and Ann Gregory from Homebeck House raised £194.11 at their annual Tea Party in aid of St Ann’s Hospice.
The party, which has now become an annual event was held at St James’ Church Hall on Friday 20th September from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Locals from Gatley flocked in to buy a cup of tea and a homemade cake as well as investing in the raffle! Over 50 prizes ranging from meals to beauty products and chocolates had been donated by local businesses and people keen to support the local charity. St Ann’s Hospice cares and helps around 3,000 patients (over the age of 16) and their families and carers every year who are affected by cancer and non-cancer life limiting illnesses. We deliver care that is special and unique to each individual person. Around 40% of inpatients at St Ann’s Hospice return home after treatment. Home Instead Senior Care have provided care for many people who have gone on to be supported by St Ann’s Hospice. Seven CAREGivers and staff have been trained in end of life care by St Ann’s staff as part of their commitment to improve the care people receive who have life limiting illnesses.
Joan, a client of Home Instead along with Danielle her regular CAREGiver thought the party was fantastic. They enjoyed a cup of tea and a cake and chatted to the many people who attended, including children from Gatley Primary School, who came along to support the event (and have time away from school!). Joan won several prizes in the raffle and commented “It is great to get out of the house and I have loved the tea party”. Joan is one of many people whom Home Instead support to get out and about in the community.
Commenting on the event, Managing Director David Moore said “It is great to run events like this, engaging with the local community, bringing along our clients but particularly raising funds for St Ann’s Hospice, so they can continue their great work”.
