#CareAbout Dementia Party Success!
On Friday, 24th May, Home Instead Senior Care Stockport held a Dementia Action Week party in Cheadle Heath.
Over 125 people from across the borough came together for an inter generational party to raise awareness of dementia. Raffle prizes were donated by local small businesses to raise funds for Alzheimer’s UK and Home Instead caregiver, Lorna Rattray, donated her time to photograph the event.
Loose Change Buskers entertained the group and a wonderful buffet was available for all attendees.
David Moore, owner of Home Instead Stockport said, “What a party! We are delighted that more than 100 people joined us for the #CareAboutDementia party. We made new friends, celebrated with family, and caught up with old friends.
“The atmosphere in the room was amazing with singing, dancing and laughter. Our youngest attendee was 2 and our oldest was 98! Thank you to everyone who made the party a huge success, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
He continued, “We were delighted to have some special attendees including local MP Ann Coffey and the newly appointed Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, Madam Mayor Councillor Laura Booth and mayoress Lynn Glover all who were overwhelmed by the number of attendees.”
Madam Mayor Councillor Laura Booth and mayoress Lynn Glover, the newly appointed Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport attended as their first official engagement and said, “If this is the first event people have hard act to follow.”
One attendee said “Who needs medication when we can enjoy ourselves like this!” whist another said, “All good things must come to an end but can we have another.” A third attendee said, “I’m going home having had the best day in months.”
