What’s On Where Guide to Launch - in Order to Combat Elderly Loneliness

Here at Home Instead Senior Care Sheffield we are in the process of developing a new WOW Guide for South Sheffield. We currently have one published for North Sheffield and Barnsley also. Our WOW guides have been a huge success for both areas and therefore due to popular demand we are in the process of developing one for South Sheffield.

The main aim of the WOW Guide is to decrease the loneliness within the elderly community, the WOW guide is divided into Coffee Mornings & Afternoon teas, Lunch Clubs, Choirs & Singing, Support Groups Therapy, Exercise and Clubs & Societies where the location, area, day, start and end time and the phone number is provided for all activities listed.

The feedback and testimonials we have received so far have been brilliant and shows that what we are doing is truly appreciated by other people:

“I am passionate about care of the whole person and there are many things that make a difference to health as well as medicine. It sounds like the work you are doing is really valuable and will make a real difference for people” GP Sheffield

“We can always use these; they’re a great little directory. We will take these to all out Sheffield Dementia cafes and give out at groups etc” Services Manager, Alzheimer’s Society

As you can see they have been a huge success and we hope to make the same impact with the new South Sheffield Edition.

If you know of any activities which you think would be suitable to feature in any of our WOW guides please do not hesitate to call us on 0114 246 9666 or email me lucy.astle@homeinstead.co.uk.
