It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Home Instead Senior Care Sheffield celebrated its annual Christmas party on the 10th and 11th of December, along with its neighbouring Barnsley franchise. The parties offered a unique opportunity for clients and CAREGivers to gather together and get into the festive spirit.

Our DJ for the day was one of our very own clients, Steven, who is somewhat of a celebrity these day’s, as he regularly DJ’s for the under the stars learning disabilities night club. The 3 hours was filled with Tombola, Bingo, Dancing, a buffet and a Christmas quiz. Bingo seemed to be quite tense and strangely competitive as did the Christmas quiz which was won twice by our CAREGiver Mark, all in good spirits of course.

The staff had also previously practiced carols to sing for all the CAREGivers and clients; this was led by our very own HR Manager Tina who was once a choir mistress. Although we had only had the one practice session, which ended with us laughing hysterically, the carols were sung quite well and we didn’t received any heckling which is definitely a positive.

The regular Christmas music was played with the odd ‘cha cha slide’ and ‘Gangnam style’ to keep the staff on their toes; those of us wearing thick Christmas jumpers immediately regretted the decision that had been made earlier in the day.

Towards the end of the day our Head of Care Sarah made an announcement with Steven, “Earlier this year Steven took part in the disability games alongside other disabled Olympians. Steven plans to enter the games once again next year representing both himself, and everyone at Home Instead Senior Care. This is an amazing achievement for him and we are all very proud of his commitment and sheer Determination”. Steven was awarded a medal for his efforts and a big round of applause to congratulate him.

The parties all ended with people in high spirits and the staff absolutely knackered. It was lovely seeing clients and CAREGivers enjoying themselves, and nice to wish them all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
