Sheffield based home care company Home Instead Senior Care were recently involved with the Sheffield 50+ group, Sheffield OPPN (Older Peoples Partnership Network) and Age UK Sheffield, WRVS to celebrate an Age event to coincide with the annual celebration of ‘Older People’s Day’ on the 1st October.
The event took place at the Crucible Theatre Sheffield and was a marvellous celebration of Age. Local performers all aged over 50 years came along to provide entertainment on what turned out to a wonderful day. Many of the people attending came early in the morning and stayed all day with some performers actually doing two performances, it was decided to celebrate in this way rather than the usual information stands.
Home Instead Senior Care who support and assist older people within their own homes, thought it was an ideal opportunity to help make the day a success, and launched ourselves into the day providing part of the entertainment in the form of writing and performing a poem about growing old. It was brilliant to be able to be part of such a wonderful celebration of Age.
