# You Can Care Like Jeanette!

Our fabulous CAREGiver Jeanette Ferguson has been with Home Instead Senior Care Oldham & Saddleworth for almost 2 years, having come from a caring role in a nursing home. Jeanette works closely with another of our CAREGivers Rachel, and they share the same clients.

When asked what she likes about working for Home Instead, Jeanette says "I love making a difference to people's lives" she goes on to say "Looking after someone in their own home is a very personal service. At Home Instead we are with the people we look after for a minimum of one hour and we see the same clients - so not only do you build that trust, you become a big part of their life"

Jeanette talks about a client she is currently looking after "When we first started looking after the client, her husband was very reluctant to work with us as he was his wife's main carer and did everything for her - he didn't think he needed help and felt quite capable of doing this caring role on his own.  It took time to build up his trust and I would spend time getting to know him as well as his wife".  After a few short weeks, the husband said to Jeanette "I really feel I can talk to you and I appreciate now that I am not able to care for my wife on my own" He went on to say "The world is a better place when you and Rachel are in our house" What a lovely compliment!

Jeanette lives in Diggle with her husband and her Dad.  She began her career in care after looking after her mother-in-law, and when her Mum died, became her Dad's main carer. Jeanette enjoys dancing, walking and history (especially anything about World War 1) and has a love of animals, which include dogs, cats, hens, a Shetland pony and 3 donkeys that she fosters for the Donkey Sanctuary.

Making a difference is what we strive to do here at Home Instead. Our CAREGivers love working with the families we care for and we love looking after our CAREGivers, ensuring we provide a happy and secure place for them to work.  If this sounds like the sort of place you would like to work, then pop in anytime to speak to us. If you are the right sort of person and pass what we call "the Mum test" (i.e. would we let you look after our Mum!) then we will show you that #You Can Care!
