Music, Memories and Friendship: A Special Community Event in Buckhurst Hill
Discover why music and connection matter in later life and learn about a free Brick Lane Music Hall event in Buckhurst Hill on 13 November.

A familiar song can bring back memories, start a conversation or simply make someone smile. Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, whatever their age, and opportunities to enjoy it with others can be particularly meaningful in later life.
That’s why Home Instead Epping Forest is delighted to support a special Brick Lane Music Hall event in Buckhurst Hill on Friday 13 November 2026, bringing people together for a morning of entertainment, refreshments and companionship.
Organised through a collaboration between three local Memory Cafés and sponsored by Home Instead Epping Forest, the event is free to attend and promises an enjoyable start to the festive season.
Why Music and Shared Experiences Matter in Later Life
Music is more than entertainment. Familiar tunes can encourage conversation, evoke personal memories and create a shared experience, even when people have different interests or abilities.
The Alzheimer’s Society explains how music can help prompt memories and conversation for people living with dementia. A favourite song might remind someone of a family celebration, a childhood experience or a memorable evening out.
Equally important is the opportunity to enjoy these moments with others. For older people who may have fewer opportunities to get out and socialise, community gatherings can offer something to look forward to and a chance to feel connected.
