Mini Dementia Market in Chesterfield: Local Advice, Support and Understanding
Join Home Instead Chesterfield's Mini Dementia Market on 19 October 2026 for local dementia advice, family support and a virtual dementia experience.

When someone is living with dementia, knowing where to turn for advice and support can make a real difference. Whether you’re adjusting to a recent diagnosis, caring for a family member or concerned about changes in someone’s memory, having the opportunity to speak with people who understand can be reassuring.
On Monday 19 October 2026, Home Instead Chesterfield is hosting a Mini Dementia Market, bringing local organisations together to share practical advice, useful resources and information about dementia support in Chesterfield and the surrounding area.
The event is open to everyone, offering a welcoming space to ask questions, meet local dementia specialists and learn more about living well with dementia.
What to Expect at the Mini Dementia Market
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet representatives from NHS dementia teams, Alzheimer’s Society, local day centres and Home Instead Chesterfield.
Throughout the afternoon, you can:
- Find local dementia support: Discover services, resources and organisations available to people living with dementia and their families.
- Ask questions: Speak with local dementia professionals about everyday concerns, care options and where to find further advice.
- Learn more about dementia: Explore a virtual dementia experience designed to encourage greater awareness and understanding.
- Connect with others: Enjoy refreshments and informal conversations in a friendly, welcoming environment.
You don’t need to have a dementia diagnosis in the family to attend. The event is also an opportunity for anyone interested in understanding dementia and helping to create a more dementia-friendly community.

Experience Dementia from a Different Perspective
One of the highlights of the afternoon will be a virtual dementia experience van, offering visitors an immersive experience designed to provide insight into some of the challenges people living with dementia may face.
Through simulated sensory experiences, visitors can gain a different perspective on how dementia may affect everyday situations, including how someone experiences their surroundings.
Although no simulation can fully recreate an individual’s experience of dementia, experiences like this can encourage greater understanding, patience and empathy, particularly among family members and those providing care.
Places for the dementia experience van are limited, so please call ahead to reserve your place.
