Alongside their renowned home care services, Home Instead also provide top quality live-in care. Let's look at what makes Home Instead's approach to live-in care special.

Live-in care by Home Instead will provide you with personalised one-to-one care, available around the clock in the comfort of your own home. You will be able to remain independent with top quality care support when you need it.

Fully Managed Live-in Care

There are two very different approaches to live-in care: introductory agencies and fully managed care providers.

Home Instead offers only fully managed live-in care, meaning live-in carers are fully trained, employed and managed by Home Instead, put through the same rigorous assessment and training as visiting carers, and held to the same high standards.

For comparison, an introductory agency will simply introduce you to the live-in carer and it’s then over to you to manage and pay them, plus an ongoing monthly fee to the agency.

Understanding Your Care Needs

Prior to starting the process of setting up your live-in care service, Home Instead will spend time with you to understand your needs and preferences so they can draw up a detailed care plan and select the right person to live with you in your home.

The proposed live-in carer is introduced to you before they start, to make sure they will be a good match, and is brought to your house on day one to go through daily routines and how you want things done. The service is then managed from the local Basingstoke office, with regular visits by senior staff to ensure you remain happy with the carer and that the relationship is good.

What can a live-in carer do for me?

Our live-in carers work on agreed tasks at agreed times for a total of around eight to nine hours per day, and are available for emergencies outside of that time. They can help with:

  • Personal care assistance, such as showering, dressing and other personal tasks, done whilst respecting dignity and privacy
  • Housekeeping & home help, including light housework and preparing or helping you prepare your meals
  • Companionship care at home – social interaction, mental stimulation and generally being a sensitive and supportive friend
  • Helping with mobility, to help you get around, keep mobile and maintain independence
  • Taking you out and running errands – shopping, appointments, or just to get out of the house
  • Managing or helping with medication, ensuring everything gets taken at the right times
